Safety in an aged care workplace whether in a residential facility, in the community or in a private home is critically important. This topic explores the workplace performance required by an individual involved in following work health and safety procedures for direct care work. In aged care direct care of a client/resident is provided personally by a staff member. As you progress through this topic you will learn about what is required to accurately identify the major work health and safety hazards, manual handling, together with other hazards that may include dealing with behaviours of concern, stress, etc.

On completion of this topic you will know what is required to assess related risk, follow instructions and procedures with minimal supervision and support and be capable of participating and contributing to work health and safety (WHS) management issues.
